1. Skilled Woodworker

Location: Phoenix, AZ

JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re seeking a skilled woodworker to join our team in crafting high-quality, custom furniture and one-of-a-kind projects. At Ironwood Mills, we transform repurposed urban hardwoods into modern dining tables, coffee tables, bar tops, shelves, river tables, and unique art pieces—built to last for generations.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest and passion for building furniture and working hard who is a skilled woodworker and fabricator. This individual will also be able to organize a workshop and keep all workspaces clean. Additionally, you will be trained to interact with customers and make sales of hardwood slabs and shop services.

 

 JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Woodworking/Fabrication experience
  • Steel Fabrication (a plus but not required)
  • Knowledge of tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with a team
  • Prepare and set up machines and tooling for woodwork
  • Safety and experience with woodworking tools (chop saw, table saw, miter saw, band saw, routers, jointers, planer and hand tools, etc.)
  • Operate woodworking, milling, and sanding machines
  • Use hand tools to trim pieces or assemble products
  • Select and adjust the proper cutting, milling, boring, and sanding tools for completing a job
  • Ensure that products meet company standards and project specifications, making adjustments as necessary
  • Ability to learn advanced sanding and finishing experience for creating our required finish for all products
  • Lift wood pieces onto machines, either by hand or with hoists
  • Available for off-site installations and delivery of furniture
  • Ability to complete sales on cash register
  • Solution oriented attitude

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to lift 100lbs minimum (ability to move and help organize big heavy slabs)

AVAILABILITY & COMPENSATION

  • Monday – Friday
  • Hours 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Pay Rate:  Hourly compensation: $20–$28, based on experience & craftsmanshipWe’ll discuss compensation in the first interview.  This role begins as a 1099 contractor position, with the opportunity to transition to W-2 employment if it’s a strong mutual fit.

2. Steel Fabricator – Employee or Collaborator Opportunity

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Full-time or Contract/Residency

Are you a skilled MIG welder with a love for craftsmanship—and maybe even a vision for building out your own steel shop? We’re hiring for an onsite Steel Fabricator at Ironwood Mills and are also open to the right collaborator who wants to help grow our steel capabilities long-term.

Ironwood Mills is a custom furniture studio that turns rescued urban trees into heirloom-quality pieces. Many of our designs marry warm hardwoods with clean, architectural steel—and demand for that blend is growing fast. We’re known for our craftsmanship, creativity, and the soul we pour into every build.

TWO PATHS, ONE OPPORTUNITY

#1.  Employee Path – Steel Fabricator

  • Fabricate and weld custom steel components using MIG welding
  • Interpret drawings and bring designs to life with precision and creativity
  • Use shop equipment including MIG welder, chop saw, and grinders
  • Collaborate with the woodworking team to integrate metal and wood seamlessly
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace

#2. Collaborator Path – Build Your Steel Shop Here

This individual should be comfortable working independently, managing their own projects and space, and collaborating with our team on custom builds.   • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (with occasional flexibility)

  • Eligible for overtime where applicable

For Collaborator Path: Space, Terms & Compensation

  • Shop hours: Monday – Saturday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Monthly rent: $650–$750 (includes utilities + shared tool access)

  • Paid project work available through Ironwood Mills (flat rate or hourly depending on scope)

We are looking for a shop assistant to help with building furniture, milling, stickering, maintaining yard & keeping our shop efficient and productive.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

You love to get up early, work hard and are strong and healthy.  You could have experience in woodworking but more importantly a desire to learn and a great attitude.  You can take direction, but also initiative.  You work well with others but also independently.  You love keeping things neat and organized and can easily assist woodworkers, keep up with maintaining the shop and the slabs in the yard.  You are excited to come to work every day and learn from creative and hard-working humans.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Be 75% familiar with the following or can easily learn.

  • Be in good physical health, strength, and have some mechanical ability.
  • Woodworking experience is a plus, however, is not required
  • Ability to learn and take direction. We will train you.
  • Building, sanding assembling, and finishing furniture
  • Move heavy slabs and keep the lumber yard organized
  • Help prepare & set up machines and tooling
  • Remove sawdust and other debris from production equipment
  • Keeping the shop clean and organized
  • Oil change, change blade, grease zerk, & clean out air filters
  • Assist with at the sawmill as needed
  • Operate chainsaw
  • Load and unload lumber from trucks and forklifts
  • Sort and arrange logs and timber according to sizes and wood type to allow for easy identification
  • Utilize specialized equipment such as kiln in effectively drying seasoned lumber
  • Use barkers to strip barks from wood logs to allow for easy cutting and processing
  • Measure and indicate cutting lines on timber
  • Maintain accurate record of job operations as well as up-to-date inventory
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste materials on completion of job operation
  • Listen for unusual sounds or detect excessive vibration in machinery
  • Safety and experience with carpentry saws (chop saw, table saw, miter saw, band saw, routers, jointers, planer etc.)
  • Operate woodworking, milling, and sanding machines
  • Use hand tools to trim pieces or assemble products
  • Lift wood pieces onto machines, either by hand or with hoists

4. Executive Assistant to Creative Founders

Location: North Central Phoenix
Type: Part-Time (20 hours/week to start) Could become full-time

About Ironwood Mills + Ironwood Yoga Studios

We’re a purpose-driven business blending craftsmanship, wellness, and artistry. At Ironwood Mills, we build one-of-a-kind furniture from locally salvaged Arizona hardwoods and host design-forward events. Just across the courtyard is Ironwood Yoga Studios—a sanctuary for well-being, slow living, and creative connection.

Our space is part workshop, part studio, part gallery. No cubicles here—just soulful work, good people, and big ideas.

About the Role

This is not your average admin job. You’ll work closely with our founders to keep everything flowing—from organizing inboxes and calendars to prepping the space for clients and managing behind-the-scenes details.

It’s a hands-on, in-person role based at our studio, with some flexibility for remote work (emails, uploads, light admin). You’ll support projects across both the woodworking and wellness sides of the business, bringing clarity and calm to a dynamic, creative environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

Admin & Client Support

  • Manage inboxes, calendars, and scheduling

  • Support client communication and follow-ups

  • Prep the studio for meetings or events

  • Order supplies, coordinate errands

  • Keep documents, to-do lists, and systems organized

Studio & Project Support

  • Assist with event setup and logistics

  • Support product and slab inventory (photographing, tracking, uploading—no heavy lifting)

  • Manage Dropbox, Google Drive, and Asana

Online & Marketing Support

  • Maintain listings on our website, Etsy, and Craigslist

  • Organize and upload images and content

  • Use tools like Canva, WordPress (Divi), Mailchimp, and Instagram

  • Occasionally support blog, email, or social media content
