JOB DESCRIPTION

Ironwood Mills is an independently owned and operated furniture maker and lumber yard specializing in handcrafted wood furniture and steel fabrication for residential and commercial use. We use all locally sourced hardwoods that we harvest from all around the valley. Our mission is to save and utilize this underused resource creating quality one-of-a-kind handcrafted furniture. 

We are looking for a skilled woodworker to build furniture and custom projects.  

We create modern dining room tables, coffee tables, bar tops, shelves, river tables, and custom art pieces from repurposed urban hardwoods.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest and passion for building furniture and working hard who is a skilled woodworker and fabricator. This individual will also be able to organize a workshop and keep all workspaces clean. Additionally, you will be trained to interact with customers and make sales of hardwood slabs and shop services.

 

 JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Woodworking/Fabrication experience
  • Steel Fabrication (a plus but not required)
  • Knowledge of tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with a team
  • Prepare and set up machines and tooling for woodwork
  • Safety and experience with woodworking tools (chop saw, table saw, miter saw, band saw, routers, jointers, planer and hand tools, etc.)
  • Operate woodworking, milling, and sanding machines
  • Use hand tools to trim pieces or assemble products
  • Select and adjust the proper cutting, milling, boring, and sanding tools for completing a job
  • Ensure that products meet company standards and project specifications, making adjustments as necessary
  • Ability to learn advanced sanding and finishing experience for creating our required finish for all products
  • Lift wood pieces onto machines, either by hand or with hoists
  • Available for off-site installations and delivery of furniture
  • Ability to complete sales on cash register
  • Solution oriented attitude

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to lift 100lbs minimum (ability to move and help organize big heavy slabs)

  • Monday – Saturday
  • Hours 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

2. Account Manager

We are looking for a driven, organized, and client-focused Account Manager to join our team. As the key liaison between our company and clients, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring every client feels nurtured, supported, and confident as they navigate their custom project journey. You’ll have the unique opportunity to work in a creative and dynamic environment where craftsmanship and client relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

 

Objectives of this Role:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, guiding them through the process from initial inquiry to project completion.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships to cultivate long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with our internal team to ensure client projects are on track, budgets are maintained, and expectations are exceeded.
  • Assist with the development of strategic marketing plans and ensure KPIs are being met.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our products and service offerings to effectively upsell and cross-sell to clients.
  • Support our sales pipeline by maintaining consistent outreach to prospective and current clients.

 

Daily and Weekly Responsibilities:

  • Client Engagement: Manage client inquiries, address their needs, and ensure they are informed at every step of their custom project.
  • Lead & Job Management: Track and manage leads, follow up on inquiries, and oversee all active client projects.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with the lead woodworker to provide estimates, coordinate job timelines, and track project progress.
  • Inventory Management: Help manage slab and materials inventory to ensure availability for client projects.
  • Account Management: Keep all client accounts up-to-date, ensuring services align with their budgets and needs while providing regular progress updates.
  • Team Collaboration: Meet with the team regularly to ensure smooth business operations and strong client relationships.
  • Reporting: Generate weekly reports to track progress and keep management/owners informed.
  • Sales Development: Identify opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and renew contracts, communicating these with management/owners to drive additional revenue.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
  • Internship or professional experience in sales, customer service, or account management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a natural ability to build relationships.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with project management and CRM tools (Asana, etc.).
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in driving positive client outcomes and exceeding quotas.

What Makes This Role Unique:

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage Client Relationships: Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring clients feel supported and heard throughout their experience with Ironwood.
  • Drive Sales: Respond to inquiries, generate new leads, and close deals for both custom furniture orders and corporate event rentals.
  • Coordinate Projects: Oversee multiple custom furniture projects at a time, keeping everything on track by working with our production team to manage timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Corporate Event Management: Help coordinate 2-4 studio rentals per month, ensuring seamless event execution while collaborating with clients on their event needs (AV setup, seating, etc.).
  • Outreach and Sales Pipeline: Continuously build and maintain a sales pipeline through outreach, networking, and relationship-building with designers, architects, and other key players.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3-5 years of Account Management experience in a sales-driven or client-focused role. Experience in custom furniture, design, luxury goods, or event rentals is a huge plus.
  • Strong Work Ethic: You need to be ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into multiple projects at once. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment is essential.
  • Exceptional Organizational Skills: With the number of projects and moving parts, attention to detail and stellar organizational skills are non-negotiable.
  • Sense of Humor: We work hard, but we like to keep things light! You should be able to balance the demands of the role with a positive attitude and sense of humor.

3. Admin/Executive Assistant

We are located in a studio/warehouse in North Central Phoenix. This is not a typical office, but a multi-functional space where we work and also host frequent marketing events.

Our mission is to save and utilize this underused resource while making a meaningful impact on our environment. We believe in craftsmanship and have delivered creativity and inspiration into hundreds of people’s homes and businesses across the valley and the country. Established in 2016, we are a small, stable, and fast-growing company, with a huge opportunity for growth.

Daily/Weekly Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day office tasks.
  • Improve office procedures to make the workload more efficient.
  • Collect all data from clients and input it into our systems.
  • Track inquiries, conversions.
  • Serve as a liaison between owners, management, and woodworkers communicating important information and updates.
  • Keep all office items stocked and ordered.
  • Keep all support docs ready.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks, such as drafting and sending emails, preparing documents, and conducting research.
  • Keep email inboxes under control to give clients a quicker response time.
  • Run errands for the shop and owner.
  • Help with slab inventory – includes helping capture images, tracking in excel and uploading to Dropbox & WP, and managing all photos (no heavy lifting).
  • Daily light cleaning of the studio.
  • Prepare space for client meetings.
  • Help to prepare the studio for events – includes cleaning the studio, moving items in and out of the space, shopping, stocking items for events, and logistics.
  • Help to manage online stores – Craigslist, Etsy, Website.
  • Help managing images and content.
  • Manage calendars and schedules, including scheduling meetings and appointments.
  • Anticipate needs to prevent problems and keep things running efficiently.

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Admin/Executive Assistant or in a similar administrative role.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • “Can do” and positive attitude.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently.
